April Wood, MS, CCC-SLP

 Speech Language Pathologist

April graduated from New Mexico State University with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Journalism, and from the University of Texas at Austin with a Master of Arts degree in Speech-Language Pathology in 1992. She holds the Certificate of Clinical Competence from the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association. She is trained in the Hanen language programs It Takes Two to Talk, and More Than Words. April has worked in a variety of settings, including acute care hospitals (pediatrics and adults), inpatient rehab (adults), outpatient speech therapy (pediatrics and adults) and pediatric home health. She has experience working with individuals with Autism Spectrum Disorder, speech and language disorders/delay, dysphagia and feeding disorders, cognitive impairment, stroke, and brain injury. April enjoys working with clients of all ages and abilities, but especially with young children with limited verbal skills. “Nothing is more exciting to me than hearing a child say a word or seeing a child use a sign or speech device for the first time to communicate, and knowing that I was a small part of that journey.”
