Martha Unland, SLPA

Speech and Language Pathologist Assistant

Martha was born in San Luis Potosi, Mexico and grew up in Brownsville, Texas from the age of 4.  She has over 25 years of experience working with adults and children.  She is a graduate of Our Lady of the Lake University in San Antonio, where she received a Bachelor’s degree in Social Work and later completed her undergraduate coursework for Speech Language Pathology at Texas Woman's University.  She has also been involved in the educational system for the last twenty years of her career.

Martha currently holds a license from the State of Texas as an Assistant in Speech Language Pathology and has an active license as a Bilingual Early Childhood, Elementary Education, and Special Education Teacher, also from the State of Texas.  She has been providing speech therapy to children since 2008.  She has an interest in bilingual and bi-cultural populations, as well as the early childhood population.  She has been trained in the Trans-disciplinary Play Based Assessment model by Toni Linder and continues to be part of that assessment team in the educational system.  Martha’s therapeutic approach is strongly based on the foundation of dynamic play and ongoing feedback from parents and caretakers, to best meet her client’s needs so they can be successful in their daily communicative interactions.  She hopes to continue serving the community of Georgetown and the surrounding areas.

On her spare time, Martha enjoys the outdoors, especially going out to the lake, jetskiing, swimming, and gardening.  She has lived in the Georgetown and Round Rock area for the past 25 years and has seen this geographical area grow exponentially.  A fun fact about Martha, is that she is an animal lover and volunteers at the Williamson County Animal Shelter.
