Hearing loss is usually associated with the older population. However, hearing loss can impact anyone at any stage of life. Up to three children out of every 1,000 are born with varying degrees of hearing impairment. During the early stages of development, our reliance on hearing is crucial for acquiring vocabulary and speech comprehension. Children experiencing hearing loss often struggle with grasping complex words, such as those that are abstract or have multiple meanings. Without intervention, a child with hearing impairment may fall behind in language acquisition. This is why it is important to schedule hearing screenings for your child.
